Week Two Swim Team Announcements
WEEK TWO!
We hope that your kiddos were nice and tired last week, but also had a ton of fun! Thank goodness it warmed up toward the end of the week.
A few reminders going into this week and our first meet:
1. If you are unable to attend a meet, please email us by Sunday night prior. We start putting together the week's meet on Monday's and it is important to know if anyone will be missing. There is nothing worse than showing up to a meet and telling kids that they can't do their relay because someone did not show up. If you know any future meet absences, please email right away to let us know. DO NOT TELL COACHES in person, or board members--we will not remember. The only way to get this information in correctly is by email. Did I drill this in enough!!?? It's a huge one.
2. MEET INFORMATION - We are headed to Ephrata Thursday night! And yes, there is still practice on Thursday and Friday at normal times.
- WHATS THE SCHEDULE?
- Reminder there is a full schedule on www.cashmereswimteam.com
- Be at the pool before 5:30 pm--warmups start at 5:30 and meet starts at 6.
- It is a late night--we strive to be done by 9-and we expect all families to stay till the end of their child's relay age group in case we need subs. Please stick around and cheer.
- WHAT WILL THEY SWIM?
- Heat sheets are the "agenda" of the meet and will be sent out via email Wednesday night telling you what events your swimmer is going to be swimming.
- They will be in 3 individual races and 1-2 relays.
- There are some changes to the league event this year. Girls and boys age groups will be combined to help speed up the meet.
- WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
- We see a lot of weather variety for meets. Bring layers and blankets and warm, dry clothes for after.
- Bring dinner/snacks/drinks. Coolers allowed (no alcohol).
- Sunshades/pop up tents allowed and encouraged.
- Swim Caps are required at meets, please write names on them. If you have not received yours, you can get it from Ron Burke during the 9:00 and 10:00 practice times or before the meet in Ephrata.
- Pack a sharpie - you will need to write their events, in order, on their forearm, so they know when to check in for their race. Example, if they are in event 5... they will hear the announcer say "Event 5, heat 1-3, 1st call...." they need to look at their arm and confirm that is their event and heat and then head for the Clerk of Course area. (The "heats" are different groups within the event)
- I believe you will be able to see your child's information in the SwimTopia App--this is where you registered. Download it ahead of time.
Also, this is your chance to get a sneak peak of the volunteer positions. Ask questions if you are new and if you used to be a timer, please check out the new system.
And let's have FUN! While it is a competitive event, it is meant to be fun and encouraging. If you are a new family, sit by an experienced one and ask questions!
Please send reply's to [email protected]
